John Isaac Swann Jr. was born November 23 to the late Reverend and Mrs. John I Swann, Sr. in Paterson, NJ. He was reared there by his parents. John met the Lord on October 31, 1991. In November of 1997, John’s dad passed and the family, in January of 1998, decided to move to Hampton, VA.
John answered his call to preach in April of 1998. In the fall of 2000 he attended Liberty University. He was licensed to preach under the leadership of the Reverend SE Hayward III in May of 2001. He graduated from Liberty University in 2004 with a BS in Psychology specializing in Human Services/counseling. He was ordained a Deacon under the leadership of Rev. Andre P. Jefferson, Sr. John then attended Payne Theological Seminary with encouragement from Bishop Vinton R. Anderson.
On November 12, 2005 John was appointed to the pastor of St. Paul AME Church in Cedarville, Ohio by the Right Reverend Robert Vaughn Webster. While at St. Paul Reverend Swann implemented: Love Feast, Weekly Prayer, Bible study, and praise & worship. In 2007 John was sent to Meadowview AME Church, Fieldale, VA. While at Meadowview a dance ministry, sister to sister, Love Feast, spare change ministry and the Son’s of Allen annual camping trip were established.
At the close of the 143 Session of the Virginia Annual Conference, Reverend Swann was sent to Ebenezer AME Church, Roanoke, VA. At the 146 session of the VA Annual Conference Reverend Swann was sent to Bethel AME Church in Rocky Mount, VA. During the 149 Session of the VA Annual Conference under the leadership of William P. DeVeaux sent Reverend Swann to Bethel AME Church Cave Spring where he has served since 2015. John is the proud father of Malachi and Christopher Swann.
